Christchurch Earthquake

I think everyone across New Zealand is just as shocked about the Christchurch Earthquke as I am, and it’s good to see some of the one day sale sites offering support to the cause. GrabOne Christchurch today have a $5 donation to the Christchurch City Mission, and 1-dayout and SocialBuy have a $5 donation to the Red Cross. Get in there and support these great causes, we have, and encourage you to as well as every dollar counts.

As of 8.30am on the 9th September, there has been a total of 363 aftershocks in the region, ten of which have been greater than mag 5. I have plotted these onto a graph as visually it reveals quite a disturbing picture

Lets hope that the shaking stops soon, the devastation being caused is significant, and great deal of Christchurch’s history is being destroyed.

Bookshake added today

Do you love books but don’t have the time to spend in a bookstore?  Check out bookshake.co.nz! NZ owned and operated they offer 3 one day deals at 12 noon each day.  You can also search for books through their new releases, featured books, best sellers, top 5 and by category, so easy! They also offer free delivery for orders over $45.

GrabOne – new regions this week

GrabOne.co.nz have spread their group buying wings a little more, and launched in Northland and Tauranga this week. They have started with their usual cheap movie tickets at the local cinema, but it looks like the locals in Tauranga are into their movies far more than Northland, with 5,000 tickets purchased (and sold out!) in Tauranga, and just over 800 in Northland – but they have a few hours left yet to buy. Hawkes Bay and Rotorua are due next week, so watch this space!

Home page improvements

We tweaked the home page last night, and moved all the group buying sites like 1-dayout, GrabOne and Groupy onto their own seperate page.

This makes the home page load a whole lot quicker, and less time to scroll through all the one day sales

There are more and more one day sale sites and group buying sites being added every week, and as we monitor more, the page is just getting bigger and bigger!

Any comments? Let me know below what you think.

New Group buying site coming soon

Thats right, www.dealmate.co.nz is launching in the next few months (around October/November), and they are taking sign up’s now to go into the draw to win an Apple iPad. Their sign up process still has a few cosmetic issues to work through (their address is listed as adasfsdfsdf, 43 test street, test, Auckland, Auckland 123123) but I am sure they will get this all cleaned up prior to launch.

Once they have launched we will add their site to the list.

From their home page:
“Each day DealMate will feature only one deal on local services and products for you to buy at a huge discounted price (up to 90%). DealMate encourages businesses to advertise giant bargains for you to eat, drink, ride, watch and enjoy some of the coolest things in your local city. It’s an online strategy known as collective buying. DealMate focuses on the deals that will help you to save money, socialize and be happy. To get you a huge discount we negotiate with local businesses and promise them a minimum number of people to buy their great deal. What are you waiting for? Sign-up today. Tell your relatives and friends about us, because The More We Grow, the More You Save!!!”

Love Twitter?

I have set up two daily deal lists on Twitter that follow all of the One Day Sale sites, and all of the Group buying sites that have Twitter accounts –

There you go, all their Tweets on one screen, easy!

Thats right, GrabOne launched in Wellington yesterday with $3 movie tickets. We have added them to the list and they are now being monitored. Enjoy!

What do you think?

This is going to be our new site. The current site is up and running just at www.onedaysalefinder.co.nz, but I have never been a huge fan of the layout. I gave it a bit of a tidy up when images were added, but long term I want to move to a more stable development platform.

So, what do you think? What do you like? What don’t you like? I would love to hear your thoughts, feel free to leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

And don’t forget to keep an eye on those sales, you might just pick up a bargain here and there 🙂

Aaron.
